Our team at Spencer Travel loves discovering and learning about new places. When Travel Specialist Susie Duff was invited to a familirisation trip to Abu Dhabi, she did not hesitate and jumped on the opportunity to join this educational organised by Abu Dhabi Tourism.
A packed 6-day Abu Dhabi itinerary was awaiting, and it did not disappoint.
From iconic landmarks to the Al Ain Oasis and a visit to the Souq Al Qattara Festival, Susie and her co-travellers were provided an opportunity to completely immerse themselves in the Emirati culture and endless array of experiences in Abu Dhabi.
“I loved Abu Dhabi. The culture, the food and most of all the Emirati people. Everyone was so friendly and nice to us. There’s so much to see and do, it’s perfect getaway with a difference,” Susie said.
Susie’s favourites:
- Visiting the Sheikh Zayed Grand Mosque: the incredible architecture of the mosque makes it a very special place. The guide’s commentary provided us with a deeper understanding of religion and culture in the United Arab Emirates
- The Louvre: this iconic museum features works from ancient times to the contemporary era. A building, and the ceiling in particular is stunning. It feels like you’re walking under the stars.
- The incredible food. The group had the pleasure of joining an Emirati family for lunch. In addition to learning about the Emirati culture and way of life, they were presented some beautiful food.
- Qasr Al Watan Tour: Qasr Al Watan is a working Presidential palace and a not to be missed landmark. It also features a light and sound show nearly every night. Incredible!
- Last but not least, the Gold Coffee Experience at the world-famous Emirates Palace… We had a delicious cup of fragrant coffee topped with the hotel’s logo and sprinkled with real 24-carat gold leaf. A work of art.
